Each
year the Chesapeake Bay Wine Festival is held
at beautiful White Fences Vineyard in the
quaint water town of Irvington, Virginia.
The event features 10 award-winning wineries
from throughout Virginia who offer free tastings
of their best wines. In addition, visitors
can enjoy Virginia barbecue and Chesapeake
Bay seafood.
Irvington,
on Virginia’s famous Northern Neck,
offers the perfect one day or weekend destination
with cute boutiques, the well-known Trick
Dog Café, Hope and Glory Inn and Tides
Inn resort. Located on Carter’s Creek,
the town is both simple and sophisticated,
sailor and workingman, traditional and contemporary.
In short, Irvington is some kind of town.
Partial
proceeds from the 2008 Chesapeake Bay Wine
Festival will benefit the Northern Neck
Family YMCA’s Bright Beginnings
program, a program which provides clothing
and school supplies to local children living
below the poverty line. The band for the festival,
Mary and the Janes along with Jim
Wright, are donating their fee to the
Bright Beginnings program, to which they are
all committed.
